Brand Outreach: How To Work With Your Favorite Brands
Being able to work with your favorite brands, or brands in general, as a blogger is one of the most fun and rewarding things that we are able to do! You get to create something visually pleasing and get as creative as you want, it is truly work and fun combined. Sometimes within your business, because yes your blog is a business, work can get stagnant. Maybe brands haven't contacted you in a few weeks or you simply just want to work with more brands but don't know where to start. This post is going to cover a few tips and tricks on how you can reach out to a brand to work with them instead of them just reaching out to you.
How you can work with your favorite brands.
Brand outreach can be difficult, trust me, I've had a lot of fails before I was successfully able to get down to a good routine when reaching out to brands. This also involves doing a little bit of research at times, but it is so worth it once you score that spot of working with your favorite brands.
1. Blogging Networks are one of the easiest ways to be able to work with brands. You sign up, connect your social accounts, determine your niche, and the network will connect you with brands to work with. Some of my favorite blogging networks are Influenster, Inzpire and Social Native there are tons of blog networks but these are my preferred choice. Both of these sites will invite you to work with brands that you love and Social Native actually pays you!
2. Reaching out to brands yourself, this is mainly what I wanted to speak on within this post. Reaching out to brands yourself can be a little scary or intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. I usually use Instagram to find and reach out to brands that I want to work with. I love working with smaller brands, so a lot of times when scrolling through Instagram and I find a smaller brand I will check out their feed and if I like it I will follow them. Okay now listen, do not follow a brand and email them right away saying how much you love them. They can definitely see when you followed them and they can already so how unauthentic you are being by lying, so why would they want to work with you?
I will follow a brand for a few weeks, see if I continue to like their content they put out and how their brand works. If after a few weeks I am still loving them then I will reach out, if not, I will unfollow them and move along. Now this does not go to say that I follow all brands with intentions of working with them, because that's not the case.
Reaching out to the brand.
Now this can be the scary part. My first step is to go the brands Instagram page, is there a email in their bio? Yes? Email them. No? Go to their site. See if you can find their PR email on their website somewhere. Don't just click their "contact" button and email about a blogger inquiry, your email might get lost within consumer emails. So this is not your first option. Google a bit, do some research.
Still can't find their email? Try shooting them a quick message on Instagram; a simple "Hi! I would love to chat about a blogger inquiry, do you have an email I can reach you at?" This will work perfectly! Sometimes they will respond and sometimes they won't. Instagram is a great way to connect with people and when I message them asking for their email I usually get a lovely response from them! Something else you can do is do a quick Linked in search for the company and see if you can find anyone who works in the social media field of the company!
Be authentic. Be authentic. Be authentic. Don't send a bull crap email that doesn't sound anything like you. Be yourself and your email will have a great overall vibe. Tell them you have been following them for a while, why you love the brand, and if you already have a collaboration in mind, pitch it! I always attach my media. A media kit is something crucial that bloggers should have. If you don't have one, you need one and lucky you I create custom 2-3 page media kits! Just drop your email below and I will email you for a consult!
After your email
Plan, come up with things you'd want to discuss in your email once they reply. Collaboration ideas, rates, rules, etc! There are a lot of things you can discuss. Write them down so you don't forget what to add in your next reply!
I hope these few tips and tricks will help you. Don't be afraid to reach out, sometimes you have to make the first move to score your dream collaboration! If you use these tips definitely let me know how they work out for you. Go head and get that collab, blogger babe!
